Your trading data is yours. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have over your information.

Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve the Platform:

Account Information

  • Name, email address, and account credentials
  • Billing information (processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers)
  • Profile preferences and notification settings
  • Authentication data (login timestamps, IP addresses, device fingerprints)

Trading & Portfolio Data

  • Exchange API keys (encrypted with AES-256 — never stored in plaintext)
  • Trade history, order data, and position information synced from connected exchanges
  • Portfolio holdings, balances, and asset allocations
  • Custom strategies, backtesting configurations, and signal parameters
  • Watchlists, alerts, and saved filters

Usage & Analytics Data

  • Pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns
  • Performance metrics (page load times, error rates)
  • Device type, browser version, operating system, and screen resolution
  • Referral source and campaign attribution

Data Ownership

Your data belongs to you. Trade OS does not claim ownership of your trading data, strategies, portfolio configurations, or any content you create on the Platform. You retain all rights to your data at all times.

You may export all of your data at any time via the Platform's data export feature or by contacting privacy@gettradeos.com. Exports are provided in standard formats (CSV, JSON) and include trade history, portfolio snapshots, strategy configurations, and analytics data.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

Service Delivery

  • Executing trades and managing exchange connections on your behalf
  • Running backtests and generating AI-powered trading signals
  • Calculating portfolio analytics, risk metrics, and performance reports
  • Sending alerts, notifications, and trade confirmations

AI Model Improvement

We may use anonymized and aggregated trading data to improve our AI models and signal accuracy. Individual trading data is never used to train models without anonymization. You can opt out of anonymized data usage in your account settings.

Platform Improvement & Communication

  • Analyzing usage patterns to improve platform features and performance
  • Sending service updates, security alerts, and product announcements (you may unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time)
  • Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and security threats

Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell your personal data or trading information. Period.

We share data with third parties only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Exchange APIs: Your API keys and trade instructions are transmitted to your connected exchanges to execute orders and sync portfolio data.
  • Payment Processors: Billing information is shared with our payment processor (Stripe) to process subscription payments. We never store full credit card numbers.
  • Infrastructure Providers: Data is processed on encrypted cloud infrastructure. Our providers are contractually bound to data protection obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights and safety of Trade OS, our users, or the public.

Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Export: Download your trading data, strategies, and analytics in standard formats (CSV, JSON).
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and associated data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format for transfer to another service.
  • Opt-Out: Opt out of anonymized data usage for AI training, marketing communications, and non-essential analytics.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legitimate business purposes:

  • Account data: retained while your account is active, plus 30 days after deletion request
  • Trading data: retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account closure
  • Exchange API keys: immediately and permanently deleted upon disconnection or account closure
  • Usage analytics: retained in anonymized form for up to 24 months
  • Billing records: retained for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law

Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential cookies: authentication, session management, and security (required)
  • Functional cookies: user preferences, theme settings, and language selection
  • Analytics cookies: understanding usage patterns to improve the Platform (can be disabled)

We do not use third-party advertising trackers. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

PIPEDA Compliance

Trade OS complies with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. In accordance with PIPEDA:

  • We obtain meaningful consent before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information
  • We limit collection to information necessary for identified purposes
  • We use and disclose personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected
  • We protect personal information with appropriate security safeguards
  • We make our privacy practices available and easily accessible
  • We provide access to personal information upon request and allow correction of inaccuracies
  • You may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your privacy rights have been violated

International Users

Trade OS is headquartered in Ontario, Canada. If you access the Platform from outside Canada, your data may be transferred to and processed in Canada. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your data to Canada, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. We ensure that all cross-border data transfers are protected by appropriate contractual safeguards.
